The positioning accuracy of the GLONASS system will improve from eight to 2.8 meters next year, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov said.

The Russian state space corporation head presented the results of the Space National Project implementation for the third quarter of 2026 at a meeting organized by Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov on the country’s space industry development.

"The technical architecture of the next-generation GLONASS constellation is taking shape, which will enable the development of navigation technologies and increase the system's stability and reliability. The accuracy of the GLONASS system will improve from eight meters to 2.8 meters by 2027," Bakanov said.

According to him, the state corporation has compiled "the most detailed X-ray map of the universe." "Science now knows not just hundreds of thousands of stars and black holes, but several million," Bakanov noted.
