Aeroflot launches "KUPOL" information system for airworthiness management and maintenance into full operation

Russian Aviaton » Monday August 31, 2026 17:20 MSK

Aeroflot has launched the unique Russian information system "KUPOL" into full-scale operation. The project was carried out with the involvement of RT-Project Technologies (part of the Rostec State Corporation), which served as the system integrator, and the Engineering Center for Information and Analytical Systems (IC IAS), responsible for developing and implementing the digital solution.

The aircraft maintenance and repair complex was created as part of the Aviation Transport Industry Competence Center (ICC).

Alexey Mikhalik, Deputy CEO and Technical Director of PJSC Aeroflot, commented: "The KUPOL information system is a unique development that does more than simply replace foreign software — it takes airworthiness management to a new level. This is a high-performance digital complex that makes it possible to manage the entire lifecycle of an aircraft, its systems, and its components. Looking ahead, it will enable a shift from condition-based aircraft operation to predictive maintenance technologies, fundamentally changing the approach to operating aviation equipment."

The digital platform is designed to automate aircraft maintenance across the entire lifecycle. It was created to ensure import independence for the Russian aviation industry in mission-critical processes related to airworthiness management, maintenance and repair of aircraft, as well as component tracking, flight-hour monitoring, and documentation control.

The implementation of the "KUPOL" system will help Aeroflot maintain its traditionally high standards of flight safety and reliability. The system provides transparent, end-to-end oversight of the lifecycle of aircraft components and parts, as well as of maintenance schedules.

"KUPOL" includes solutions capable of boosting operational efficiency for both the airline and the aircraft manufacturer. Through automation and the integration of production processes, the system helps reduce scheduled aircraft downtime for maintenance and shortens the time needed to resolve technical issues — allowing aircraft to return to service more quickly to carry out their flight schedules.

Staff now have access to a modern, user-friendly interface featuring clear, interactive manuals and digital 3D models of components, which is expected to reduce workload and increase productivity.

"KUPOL" has no equivalents in Russia and is expected to surpass, in a number of respects, the comparable foreign system currently considered the global leader in the commercial aviation market.

The key advantage of switching to a domestic platform is the unlimited potential for further development and integration with other enterprise management systems, along with the ability to apply custom algorithms for analytics and process management. The system will ensure independence from Western vendors and is expected to eventually become a full-fledged industry-wide platform, offering seamless integration for Russian airlines, manufacturers, leasing companies, and aviation authorities.
