Aeroflot is adding a lacto-vegetarian meal in Economy class as part of a pilot project. It has been available since August 1 on flights departing from Moscow with a duration of more than 7 hours. The decision to introduce this additional meal type was made based on an analysis of passenger feedback and publicly available statistics on the share of people who follow a lacto-vegetarian diet.
The lacto-vegetarian hot meal will be an addition to the traditional meat and fish meal options. Thus, as part of the project, passengers will be offered three types of hot meals during the first meal service.
Onboard, the lacto-vegetarian hot meal will be one of the following dishes, which will rotate at a set frequency:
- Pasta penne with tomato sauce and cheese;
- Spelt with mushrooms and tomato sauce;
- Fried potatoes with mushrooms and dill;
- Pasta farfalle with cream sauce, mushrooms and herbs.
The new meals are expected to be in demand among passengers who follow a balanced diet in daily life, excluding meat, poultry and fish.
