Aeroflot Open 2026 concludes in Moscow

The 21st International Chess Festival Aeroflot Open 2026 has finished in Moscow.

The winner of Aeroflot Open 2026 is Grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi, who won the tournament for the second year in a row. Silver was awarded to David Paravyan, and third place was taken by Rudik Makarian (both Russia).

The best result among women was achieved by Afruza Khamdamova (Uzbekistan).

In the Legends Tournament, first place was scored by Rafael Vaganian (Armenia), second place by Eugenio Torre (Philippines), and third place by Sergey Makarychev (Russia).

Among boys under 13 years old, the winner was Kirill Zhelonkin (Moscow). Among girls under 13, first place was taken by Alisa Genrietta Yunker (Moscow).

The Aeroflot Open festival has been organized under the auspices of Aeroflot since 2002. Aeroflot traditionally serves as the general and organizational partner of the Chess Federation of Russia and supports the grand chess festival. In 2004, it was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest chess tournament in the world. The annual competition was suspended in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was revived in 2024.
