Aeroflot has received two awards at the Velana Awards 2026, established by Velana International Airport (Maldives).

The largest Russian airline by the results of 2025 won in the following categories: “Top Airline by Passenger Growth among CIS countries”, “Top Airline by Passenger Throughput among CIS countries.”

In 2025, Aeroflot carried more than 282,000 passengers between Moscow and Malé, which is 15% higher than in 2024. Under the current seasonal schedule, the airline operates up to 9 of its own flights per week from Moscow to the Maldives. Earlier, the airline announced that it had transferred its flights to the new Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport.

The annual Velana Awards were established to recognize the best partners of Velana International Airport and are being held for the first time. The event aims to enhance air connectivity between the Maldives and the rest of the world, improve the quality of ground operations, and strengthen the Maldives’ position as a leading tourist destination. The awards are presented in three main categories: Passenger Transportation, Cargo Transportation, and Airport Lounges. This year, along with Aeroflot, the awards were also presented to Etihad Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.
