The first phase of the implementation of artificial intelligence for operational analytics of events in the terminal building has been successfully completed at Pulkovo Airport. The initiative became part of the Potok project, aimed at reducing pre-flight passenger service. The first stage covers the check-in area and allows employees to automatically predict the formation of queues for a timely response and the opening of additional check-in counters.
The implementation was carried out by Lure IT LLC, a company specializing in the automation and digitalization of continuous operations enterprises, including the use of artificial intelligence-based systems. To accomplish the tasks set, a solution based on the RTMIP product from the register of domestic software (No. 13249) was used.
"Last year, we opened a passenger and transport flow management center, which monitors the airport 24/7 to control the load on the infrastructure. During the project launch, there was a need for a tool to control the flow of passengers in the terminal and analyze the time in queues. By implementing the system from LurITi LLC for monitoring the check-in hall, we increased the efficiency of the distribution of check-in counters, fully automated the measurement of waiting time and were able to respond to passenger congestion before queues appeared. The next step is scaling to other areas of the airport," said Alexey Kostylev, Head of the Operational Traffic Support Service on the Apron of Northern Capital Gateway LLC (the operator of Pulkovo Airport).
The next stage is planned to be scaling the system to the areas of entry and pre-flight inspection of passengers taking into account transport security requirements, the territory of the airport terminal area and parking to control the transport load, as well as the airfield apron.
The development of machine vision-based systems at Pulkovo Airport significantly improves the work of employees and increases passenger comfort. The uniqueness of the solution lies in the ability to ensure work in a closed circuit in accordance with information security requirements.
The Potok project at Pulkovo Airport has reduced pre-flight service time from 1.5 hours to 30 minutes.
