A photo exhibition of archival footage from the Great Patriotic War has opened at Pulkovo Airport

The exhibition was organized for the 80th anniversary of the Victory together with the Izvestia MIC. The exhibition includes archival photographs taken by the newspaper's photojournalists at the front in 1941-1945, which allow us to recall important pages of history.

Risking their lives, they reported on what was happening at the front, tragedies and exploits, photographed liberated cities and the faces of heroes.

As part of the opening, legendary songs of the war years were performed at the airport by the Nevsky Dozor ensemble of the Border Department of the FSB of Russia for the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

Any passenger could take free red carnations, which were provided by the Milady flower shop, located in the public area of the airport.

Reporters and photojournalists became some of the main chroniclers of the war. On its first day, 52 employees of the publication went to the front, and during the fighting, more than 300 journalists visited the front line.

You can see the exhibition "War through the lens of Izvestia war correspondents" on the 3rd floor, in the departure area of domestic flights.
