Pulkovo Airport has begun testing an electric wheelchair for passengers with limited mobility. Electric wheelchairs provide a smooth ride, comfortable seating, and secure fixation. Testing will take 3 months.

Thanks to the technology and thoughtful design, the solution allows to speed up the process of moving around the busy airport area and reduce the workload of employees. The maximum speed of movement reaches 10 km/h. Four leading electric motors with all-wheel drive provide excellent cross-country ability on any surface, special tires - comfort when driving. 

The passenger is provided with an orthopedic seat cushion and a backrest with lateral supports, the ability to adjust the seat depth and backrest height, adjustable footrests, and lifting wide armrests. A special basket is built in for hand luggage. The electric wheelchair has LED headlights with low and high beam modes. 

There is a platform at the back for the accompanying person. Extended control handles with a remote control and the absence of the need to push the wheelchair manually make the work of employees easier. 

In 2024, the airport served 67.4 thousand passengers with disabilities, launched a new service counter in the domestic departure area at gate 6. For passengers with disabilities, an open space in the check-in hall is open 24 hours a day, where they can relax and check in for their flight. Passengers can get a standard wheelchair, including for independent movement.
