Russia’s import-substituted SJ-100 equipped with PD-8 engines takes off for maiden flight

The import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft equipped with Russia-produced PD-8 engines took off for its maiden flight on Monday, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said.

"The PD-8 powered aircraft is under the flight tests, and this time it was an important and long-awaited step towards certification of a technologically independent version of the Superjet," he said.

"Such dedication against all possible challenges that the [aircraft] engine constructors faced allowed them to see today the maiden flight of the aircraft powered by Russia-produced engines," he added.
