The Almaz-Antey Group has for the first time demonstrated the latest testing laboratory for aerial checks of flight support radio-technical equipment at the 12th National Aviation Infrastructure Show (NAIS), Almaz-Antey representative Vitaly Repin told TASS on Thursday.
"For the first time ever, we are showcasing the latest testing laboratory for aerial checks of flight support radio-technical equipment, which has made it possible also for the first time in domestic practice, using indigenous metrological equipment and a domestically-made unmanned aircraft system - an unmanned aerial vehicle - to fly over and make control measurements of signals from a local checking/adjustment station designed to generate and transmit GPS/Glonass global navigation satellite data differential corrections to aircraft," he said.
The local checking/adjustment station features important equipment, which together with navigation satellites provides an accurate steering of airplanes at aerodromes and their accurate landing approach and supports the implementation of zonal aircraft navigation procedures, the Almaz-Antey representative stressed.
"The equipment that has been engineered uses completely domestic special software registered in the Russian software register," he said.
The domestic flight test suite using an unmanned aircraft system helps reduce the timeframe of carrying out flyovers of flight support radio-technical equipment many times over compared to specialized aircraft-based labs, conduct checks in automatic mode, cut costs and, importantly, raise the accuracy of measurements considerably, the Almaz-Antey representative emphasized.
