Aeroflot Group carried half of all passengers traveling with Russian airlines during New Year holidays. Between December 29 and January 8, every second passenger flying with a Russian carrier was on an Aeroflot, Rossiya or Pobeda flight.
During the holiday period, more than 1,5 million people flew with Aeroflot Group airlines, a nearly 3% increase compared to the same period last year. Over 1.15 million people flew domestically with an increase of 1% year-on-year. International traffic saw a 9.5% increase.
From December 29 to January 8, the Group’s airlines operated over 10 300 flights. Aeroflot alone carried over 810 000 passengers, Pobeda flew 419 000 and Rossiya transported 305 000.
The most popular domestic routes from Moscow during the holidays were to Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Ekaterinburg and Mineralnye Vody. As for international travel, the top-5 destinations from Sheremetyevo Airport included Dubai, Phuket, Istanbul, Yerevan, and Bangkok.
At midnight from December 31 to January 1 (Moscow time), 47 aircraft from Aeroflot Group were in the air. A total of 9 653 passengers, 96 pilots, and 306 flight attendants welcomed the New Year in flight.
