Aeroflot signed a cooperation agreement with the Amur Tiger Center on the Eastern Economic Forum.
The largest Russian air carrier and the Amur Tiger Center will work together to preserve the wildlife of the south of the Far East and the Amur tiger.
As part of the agreement, Aeroflot will continue air transportation of predators moved within the framework of the Amur Tiger Conservation Program. In addition, the airline will deliver veterinary medicines for urgent care to tigers undergoing treatment in rehabilitation centers. The partners also intend to carry out joint activities aimed at improving environmental literacy of the population. Another area of cooperation is the popularization of the image of the Amur tiger as one of the natural symbols of Russia and the state's activities to preserve a rare species of feline.
Aeroflot has been cooperating with the Amur Tiger Center for several years. The airline transports predators for free from the Far East to the European part of the country for rehabilitation and living in captivity. The program is valid for tigers with severe injuries or diseases that make further life in the wild impossible. Aeroflot has delivered 12 striped "passengers" from the Far East over the past 5 years.
"Aeroflot is the company that traditionally pays close attention to ESG aspects, — noted Sergey Alexandrovsky, CEO of Aeroflot PJSC. — We are always very enthusiastic about implementing joint projects with the Amur Tiger Center and welcome the development of our cooperation. The support that we provide today is our contribution to the future of the unique Far Eastern nature, to its preservation for new generations of Russians."
"In a perfect world, all tigers always live in the wild, they never need help from people and there is no need to look for new "places of residence" for them in captivity, — says Sergey Aramilev, General Director of the Amur Tiger Center. — In the real world, different things can happen, fortunately, there are caring people and companies ready to help. Thanks to cooperation with Aeroflot, we can be sure that every animal that is forced to go to specialists will be surrounded by attention and care not only on the ground, but also in the air."
