Production of up to 36 MC-21 aircraft per year is planned at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (a branch of PJSC Yakovlev), said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of PJSC Yakovlev, during a visit to the airline in Irkutsk on Friday. This is reported by Interfax.
"Production facilities are currently designed for 36 aircraft per year. The first contract has been concluded and an advance payment has been received from the leasing company for 18 MC-21 aircraft," Boginsky said.
According to him, the passenger capacity and layout of the car depends on the customers. "Our base customer is the Aeroflot Group of companies. Accordingly, after the aircraft enters the series, work will undoubtedly continue to expand the conditions of its operation," said the general director of the aircraft plant.
The production of the MC-21 is carried out at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant of PJSC Yakovlev (part of the UAC). The start of serial production of the car is expected in 2025, previously the dates were postponed several times. Initially, the liner was created in international cooperation. After the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, foreign partners withdrew from the project, which led to the need for accelerated import substitution of systems and components.
