The first training session for the preparation of the fire-fighting and emergency rescue flight support service was held at the training ground. The training will be held on a regular basis, as well as in preparation for the spring-summer and autumn-winter navigation seasons. This is the only training ground for air transport rescuers in St. Petersburg.

The training ground, covering an area of ​​over 2 hectares, features various locations that allow simulating situations related to various types of fires on aircraft. Modern simulators simulating an aircraft engine, landing gear, fuel leaking and spilled under the aircraft, a training simulator for breaking through the aircraft skin, as well as a fire adaptation strip "Labyrinth" for preparing gas and smoke protection personnel to navigate in an environment unsuitable for breathing and adapting firefighters to conditions of immediate proximity to fire are installed. Training is conducted using special fire-fighting foam for extinguishing flammable liquids on aircraft.

Pulkovo Airport is constantly working to improve the level of training of specialists. The training ground allows practicing fire extinguishing and emergency response in controlled and realistic conditions.
