On the 19th of November at 2024 Transport Week Nordwind Airlines and International Airport of Kazan named after Gabdulla Tukai signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement aimed at widening the carrier’s route map. Thus, the agreement continues the one executed by the parties on the 16th of November, 2022. The initial contact contained the undertaking of the parties to substantially increase the airline’s flight program to/from Kazan within the next two years.
For now, the parties consider the project to be successful and have decided to extend their cooperation.
Anton Mattis, Nordwind Airlines’ Deputy Director General, commented:
«In 2022 we became the main carrier of the Kazan International Airport. From the very start we focused on developing the hub based in the airport. The airline connected its routes with connection flights, used aircraft with the capacity of 189-220 seats and increased main line traffic. A range of destinations was absolutely new for Kazan, i.e. such flights have never been conducted before, like Irkutsk, Ulan Ude, Groznyy, Vladikavkaz, Tomsk, and Novokuznetsk. Within the effective period of the agreement we enlarged the volume of our flights 2.4 times. The new agreement will be a foundation for further enhancement of the airline’s route network to/from Tatarstan».
Sergey Romantsov, Director General of JSC «International Airport of Kazan» noted:
«Today we review the preliminary results of an impressive work done together with our partner Nordwind Airlines within the previous two years. Execution of the second Agreement verifies the effectiveness of the development strategy chosen by the government of the Republic of Tatarstan for the Kazan airport.
In 2023 the passenger flow in the airport raised to over 5 million passengers per year, thus reaching its historical peak. The five millionth passenger flew from Kazan with a flight performed by Nordwind who enhances its Kazan flight program every year and makes our passengers happy with new destinations».
