On the eve of winter, the airport hosted an annual inspection of airfield equipment.
"Pulkovo is about one and a half million square meters of cement concrete pavement and about a million square meters of asphalt concrete pavement. In winter, despite difficult weather conditions, we must ensure uninterrupted operation of the airport. For this purpose, we have at our disposal more than 60 units of specialized equipment designed to operate in the most extreme weather conditions ," said Filipp Saburov, head of the airfield service of the Northern Capital Gateway company (Pulkovo Airport).
In total, more than 100 units of equipment and mechanization equipment are used to ensure takeoff and landing operations in any weather conditions. In 2024, more than 40 units of Russian-made equipment were purchased, including a plow-brush blower machine, which will be tested for the first time in real conditions at Pulkovo Airport.
The exhibition also featured machines for aircraft de-icing, distribution of anti-icing agents, high-speed cleaning of apron surfaces, measurement of the coefficient of adhesion, rotary snow blowers, tractors and bulldozers, and rescue equipment.
By the beginning of the winter period, anti-icing reagents were stocked up, employees were trained, and a range of repair and restoration work was carried out.
