From October 8 to 15, the airport held comprehensive exercises for emergency rescue teams, which included training for airport employees and practicing joint actions with the city's fire and rescue garrison. Their goal was to test the operation of the warning system and practice emergency response skills, including extinguishing fires on aircraft, evacuating passengers, and providing first aid.
According to the scenario of the exercise, the right engine of the aircraft approaching to land at Pulkovo caught fire. The standard fire extinguishing systems did not work. After the plane landed, the "Alarm" signal was announced.
Firefighting and emergency rescue flight support (FESFS) personnel, firefighters and emergency services of the city arrive at the scene. They begin extinguishing the fire and evacuating passengers, first aid is provided to the victims. Specialists prevent re-ignition of the fuel and cool the aircraft. After completion of all activities, the "All clear" signal is given, signifying the end of the training, and a comprehensive analysis of the exercises is conducted.
The training allows all the employees of the operational shifts, who are part of the airport emergency rescue team, and the city emergency services to practice their actions in eliminating emergency situations.
