Russia speeds up work on commercial reusable rockets for orbiting satellites

Russian Aviaton » Thursday April 13, 2023 12:48 MSK

Russia has accelerated work on creating commercial reusable rockets for orbiting payloads, Deputy Prime Minister, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said at the Sfera Congress on Thursday.

"Improving the economy of launches is a key factor in intensifying the delivery of satellites into low orbits and, therefore, we are accelerating the work on creating commercially efficient reusable carriers," he said.

In March, Russia commenced the technical designing of an Amur-LNG methane-powered two-stage rocket, Manturov said.

"Also, the Makeyev State Rocket Center [part of the state space corporation Roscosmos] has begun work on the key technologies of the Korona single-stage carrier rocket this year. Both projects are of strategic significance for drastically cutting the cost price of delivery into orbit," he added.
