Budget appropriations for funding Russian space-related activities will climb above 251 bln rubles ($3.1 bln) this year, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday during a meeting with Yury Borisov, the head of state space corporation Roscosmos.

After congratulating Borisov with his enterprise’s professional holiday, Cosmonautics Day, celebrated every year on April 12, the head of state suggested discussing the current state of the space sector and the prospects for its future development.

"In my view, our budget allocations for space activity are slightly higher this year. [It was] about 224-odd bln [rubles] ($2.7 bln) last year, and more than 251 bln [rubles] this year. Revenues are growing," Putin said.

Everyone has an interest in Russia’s plans "in this exceptional sector," the president noted, requesting that Borisov report on the relevant plans.
