The first flight of the SSJ 100 (Superjet 100) aircraft with a domestic PD-8 engine should take place in the next three months, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said, speaking with a report in the State Duma. This is reported by TASS.

"In the aircraft industry, we are creating a line of modern aircraft and helicopters. Last year, the aerodynamic tests of the updated Superjet liner were fully completed. Now it will be equipped with Russian fifth-generation PD-8 engines instead of foreign units. Its first flight is planned within the next three months," he said.

The Prime minister added that Russia also successfully conducted flight tests of prototypes of the regional Il-114 and the Baikal light multipurpose aircraft, and in December certified the PD-14 engine and the composite wing on the MS-21.

The SSJ-New aircraft is a modification of the Superjet 100 aircraft belonging to the family of regional vessels, with maximum import substitution of components and systems.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade initiated the Superjet New project after the introduction of Western sanctions against Russia. Simultaneously with the import substitution of components, processes related, in particular, to the reliability of systems, increasing comfort, safety and maintaining airworthiness will be improved. At the end of 2023, two SSJ-New aircraft with a domestic PD-8 engine will be put into operation.
