Production rates of Tu-214s to be upped to 20 planes per year, says company chief

Plans are in store to gradually boost the production rates of Tu-214 airliners to 20 planes per year, General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yury Slyusar told reporters on Tuesday, adding that serial supplies of the aircraft would start in 2024.

"(The increase in Tu-214s to 20 aircraft per year - TASS) is under development. We’re making a cargo and shortened version for flights to the Far East. The plan is to increase (production) gradually," he explained.

Serial deliveries of МС-21 and SSJ New aircraft are also planned for 2024.

Meanwhile, Aeroflot CEO Sergey Aleksandrovsky said last month that the company intended to get the first upgraded Sukhoi Superjet New (SSJ New) jets in December 2023, and МС-21s in Q4 2024.
