Russia set to invite India to Checkmate fifth-generation fighter jet project

The Russian delegation attending the Aero India 2023 international air show plans to discuss potential cooperation with India in creating fifth-generation aircraft, in particular, the Checkmate light tactical fighter jet, a source close to the state tech corporation Rostec told TASS on Tuesday.

"A delegation of representatives of our aircraft-building companies will attend the Aero India air show. We plan to discuss cooperation in fifth-generation aircraft. In particular, there is the intention to invite our Indian partners to join the Checkmate light tactical fighter project," the source said.

The Aero India 2023 international air show will run in Bangalore on February 13-17. The India air show is held once every two years. Russia is an active participant in the Indian air shows and featured over 200 military products at Aero India 2021.
