Russia’s Ka-52 gunship performs demonstration flight at Dubai Airshow

A Russian Ka-52 Alligator reconnaissance/strike helicopter designed to wipe out enemy combat hardware, manpower, helicopters and drones performed a demonstration flight at the Dubai Airshow 2023 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday.

The demonstration flight was performed by the crew commanded by Test Pilot 1st Class Alexander Pavlenko who also flies Mi-8, Ka-32 and Ka-226 helicopters and has logged over 1,800 flight hours.

It was not the first time that a Ka-52 helicopter performed a demonstration flight over the Dubai skies: it made its debut performance at the Dubai Airshow 2021.

During the flight, the Ka-52 crew demonstrated the gunship’s maneuverable characteristics and stability in the air, in particular, thanks to its coaxial rotor system. Visitors of the Dubai airshow could see for themselves that the absence of a tail rotor enables the helicopter to maneuver quickly in a limited space to gain an advantageous attacking position.
