Authorities of Russia and Lebanon are working on the start of direct flights interrupted due to Western sanctions, Ambassador of Lebanon in Moscow Chawki Bou Nassar told TASS in an interview.
Russia resumed the air traffic in June 2021 to certain destinations, including Lebanon, but the direct air service between the two countries was interrupted again due to Western sanctions.
"I hope as soon as possible. I mean the restart of these flights because it was and it is very convenient for both countries," the Ambassador noted. "There are no direct flights anymore to Moscow" because of the Western sanctions and Beirut can only be reached with the use of connected flights, the diplomat said.
Authorities of both countries are working on finding the way to resume direct flights, Chawki Bou Nassar said, without detailing the timeframe when it can take place.
