The Board of Directors resolved to elect Yan Burg to the position of General Director of Rossiya Airlines (Aeroflot Group). He has served as acting General Director since March 5, 2022.

Yan Burg joined Rossiya Airlines in October 2018 as Deputy General Director/Technical Director. By setting up effective work of the technical division, he ensured the active growth of production operations for the entire airline. With his direct role, Rossiya successfully implemented a project to commission a new type of aircraft – Superjet 100. The airline was recognized as one of the global market leaders for its great performance in putting new aircraft into operation. Over 18 months, the air carrier received 72 Russian-manufactured aircraft and became the largest operator of domestic aircraft. Harnessing the potential of Superjet 100, Rossiya started expanding flight geography by adding new destinations and increased the flight rate for popular routes. In the first half of 2022, the airline launched a production program in Sochi and Krasnoyarsk, two major regional transport hubs.

Under Yan Burg’s leadership, Rossiya Airlines also received an extended FAR-285 (ФАП-285) certificate in the Federal Air Transport Agency for the maintenance of aircraft registered in the Russian state register. All aircraft, built abroad, were transferred to Russian jurisdiction. With the new certification, the airline can now continue with the safe operation of Boeing and Airbus aircraft flying the flag of the Russian Federation.

Yan Burg graduated from the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation (MGTU GA) with an engineering degree in Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Maintenance. He joined Aeroflot in 2001. In his professional career, he progressed from an aircraft mechanic to a chief engineer and took part in the aircraft fleet reorganization, development of new types of aircraft and expansion of maintenance facilities. From 2012 to 2018, he held senior positions at ASC Aviation Equipment and Helicopter Service Company, which is part of the Russian Helicopters Holding.
