Last weekend St. Petersburg hosted a multimedia festival dedicated to the All-Russian Tourism Day. Pulkovo Airport became a partner of the event: the participants received gifts from the airport. The event was organized by the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee with the support of the Federal Tourism Agency. Over three days, the event was attended by 25,000 people. Over one and a half million people watched the online broadcast of the festival on TV channel 78.
On September 23, the symbolic opening of the autumn-winter tourist season 2022-2023 took place on Palace Square at exactly 20:22. In honor of this event, a new fountain appeared in the heart of St. Petersburg and a commemorative coin was "minted" - with the help of these symbols, a wish was made that tourists would return to the city on the Neva again and again.
As part of the festival, bright pavilions with thematic multimedia installations, showing St. Petersburg as the capital of various areas of modern tourism, worked on the main square of the city. Design, sports, water tourism, new tourist geography, children's Petersburg - the multifaceted potential of the city as a "magnet" for travelers of all ages and different interests was presented.
The culmination of the event was the parade of historical sailboats under the alignments of the divorced Palace Bridge. It was attended by the legendary brig "Triumph", the schooner "Lady-D" and "Nadezhda", the first part was dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the birth of Emperor Peter the Great. The movement of yachts on the water was accompanied by the musical theme "My Moscow, your Neva" and was an illustration of the joint tourist program "Two Cities - a Million Impressions" carried out by Moscow and St. Petersburg. The water action also emphasized that the city on the Neva is the recognized capital of water tourism. The parade of ships ended with a water curtain in the colors of the Russian flag, which the audience watched to the famous melody "Taming the Fire" by Andrey Petrov.
The Hermitage cat Jupiter, created by the artists, became the mascot of the festival. 3D images and videos with his participation appeared on a spectacular angular multimedia screen.
In the zones of the festival partners, one could touch the model of the Moon, which moved to Palace Square for three days from Planetarium No. 1, look into the most modern trolleybus from Gorelektrotrans, take pictures in the graffiti zone from the SKA hockey club and win tickets to their home matches in the 2022-2023 season.
Football club "Zenit" in the pavilion "Petersburg - the capital of sports" presented all the main European and national trophies of the St. Petersburg club: the UEFA Cup and Super Cup, Russian Premier League Champions Cup, Russian Cup and Super Cup. Here you could also make your own animated video with your favorite football player of the main team of Zenit on a special AR platform.
The largest sailing community in Russia, Power of the Wind, organized a photo exhibition on the territory of the festival, for which wind tamers collected the brightest moments of travel in St. Petersburg and other regions of the North-West.
On Saturday, September 24, as part of the festival, the closing of the 2022 motorcycle season took place. A column of motorcyclists made a ceremonial ride through the Central and Admiralteisky districts. On Palace Square in the TRP zone, one could test one's dexterity, strength, flexibility and endurance. At the stunt riding site, well-known athletes showed their skills in motorcycle tricks - multiple champion of Russia, Europe and the world Foma Kalinin, prize-winner of Russian and international competitions Danila Zhelanov, participant of Russian and international competitions Alexander Mikhailov.
In honor of Tourism Day, the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg organized the already traditional social action "Hospitable Petersburg". Free invitations to museums, excursions and boat trips were distributed among city residents: families of military personnel of the Western Military District, orphanages of besieged Leningrad, university students of specialized faculties of hospitality and tourism, cadets and graduates of the Suvorov School, and part of the invitations was raffled off at stage of the annual cultural and educational festival dedicated to the All-Russian Day of Tourism. The largest museums and companies of the city became partners of the action.
