Aeroflot and Federal Passenger Company to jointly develop an intermodal transportation program

Aeroflot and Federal Passenger Company (JSC «FPC») have agreed to launch a program of intermodal transport, which is a new travel product. The Memorandum of understanding between the two companies was signed by Sergey Alexandrovsky, CEO of PJSC Aeroflot, and Vladimir Pyastolov, CEO of JSC “Federal Passenger Company” on the sidelines of the XXVth Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum.

According to the document, the Parties shall work out and sign an agreement on intermodal transportation. The service will allow passengers to purchase air and rail travel under single  itinerary and on one itinerary receipt. This will considerably facilitate for passengers the selection of travel choices and convenient connections between flights operated by Aeroflot and trains. It will expand opportunities for domestic travel within Russia.
JSC «FPC» and PJSC Aeroflot see strong potential in developing intermodal transportation. The new joint product will primarily facilitate travel to Russia’s Southern destinations.

Sergey Alexandrovsky, CEO of PJSC Aeroflot said: “The Memorandum marks an important step in developing combined transportation in Russia. We enhance logistics for our passengers implementing the governmental task of improving population mobility.  The program of multimodal transportation will initially roll out amid the temporary absence of direct flights to certain regions, and will allow us to both maintain and increase passenger traffic to major Russian resort cities. It is a strategically significant partner project, which we are set to develop in other regions of the country.”

Vladimir Pyastolov, CEO of JSC “Federal Passenger Company”  said: “Cooperation between PJSC Aeroflot and JSC “FPC” will make travel planning even more convenient for passengers. Combined itineraries including rail and air transportation will enhance transport connectivity of the regions, which is especially important today. The quest for joint complex solutions will allow us to come up with new arrangements of passenger transportation, and variants to use more efficiently both aviation and railway parks and infrastructure.”
