The MC-21 aircraft consists of Russian components by 50%, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yury Slyusar said in an interview aired by the Rossiya-24 TV news channel, adding that the task is to bring this share to 100%.

"The share of domestically-produced [components] in MC-21 is higher than in SSJ. The task we are facing is to bring it to 100%, meaning now, taken with the Russian engine, roughly 50% [of components] are domestically-made and 50% - foreign. We should substitute those 50% as soon as possible. The task is quite ambitious as fundamentally up-to-date aviation complexes inside one country are fully created in a wide international cooperation. Nevertheless, we understand what enterprises using what solutions will make domestic systems," he explained.

Earlier on Friday Slyusar said that the UAC planned to produce 36 MC-21 jets by 2025 and after it - to boost production rates to 72 jets per year.
