A new batch of Russian S-400 missile air defense systems arrived in India without delays despite the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine, India Today reported Friday citing high-ranking Indian officials.
"The major consignment of S-400 missiles was delivered by ship and is now operational. Parts of the missile systems arrived via both air and sea routes and were quickly deployed in the designated locations," the report says.
India continues "to receive our consignments without any delays or issues, and the latest consignment of overhauled engines was received a few days ago despite the war there," the newspaper’s source said.
India announced its intent to buy Russian S-400 systems in 2015. The $5.43 billion contract for shipment of five S-400 regiment kits was signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India in October 2018.
