Russia’s anti-coronavirus crisis center may soon lift restrictions on flights to about 40 countries, a source in the Transport Ministry told TASS.

"The crisis center made a decision at its recent meeting to lift restrictions on flights to about 40 countries," he said.

A TASS source in a major airline confirmed the information.

Another two sources in the aviation industry, in turn, told TASS that they had heard about the crisis center’s plans to lift restrictions on foreign flights.

In early March, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency announced the lifting of restrictions on regular and charter flights to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Iran on a mutual basis. Restrictions have also been lifted on flights to Belarus, the Dominican Republic, Egypt (except Cairo), the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Finland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, South Korea and Cuba. Flights to these countries are now regulated by intergovernmental air transport agreements and agreements by aviation authorities.
