On Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 18:09:37 UTC, joint Russian and European crews performed a launch of a Soyuz-ST-B rocket with a Fregat-M upper stage and 34 OneWeb spacecraft from the Guiana Space Center. This was the thirteenth launch under the OneWeb joint program.
Nine minutes after liftoff, the booster and spacecraft separated normally from the third stage of the launch vehicle. Within 3.5 hours, the OneWeb satellites will separate from the Russian booster in turn, in accordance with the flight schedule.
Roscosmos is responsible for the Soyuz program at the Guiana Space Center from the Russian side and coordinates the work with the Russian rocket and space industry enterprises involved in the programme. Glavkosmos (part of Roscosmos) is the head contractual integrator of the Russian cooperation enterprises in this project, ensuring interaction with Arianespace.
The Soyuz-ST launch vehicle was developed at the Progress Rocket and Space Center (Samara, part of Roscosmos), and is based on the Soyuz-2 rocket. It is designed to launch spacecraft from the Guiana Space Center. The rocket is adapted to the Guiana Space Center requirements in terms of safety, telemetry system and operating conditions. In addition, it is equipped with an ST-type payload fairing that, together with the Fregat upper stage, ensures a wide range of payloads to be launched into orbit.
