High Flying Wines tasting event hosted by Aeroflot took place at the First Russian Wine Forum held in Moscow on 24-25 November.
During the blind tasting, the leading Russian wine experts tasted about 50 Russian-made wines of various types from still to sparkling to fortified. The best samples receiving the most high marks from the expert group might be served on Aeroflot flights next year during the Wine Holidays. This project to celebrate the airline’s centenary will be held in the spring of 2023. The wine-makers participating in the tasting event will be able to present its wines to Aeroflot passengers on select routes.
The locally-made wines were initially selected by the moderator of the event Artur Sarkisyan, a leading independent wine expert, a distinguished sommelier of Russia, President of Russia’s Sommeliers and Wine Experts Union, the author of the Russian Wines guide. The special WINEINCOGNITO survey technique allowed to minimize the influence of human factor on the final results.
Eleven wine professionals took part in the tasting event, including Sergey Aksenovsky, Chef Sommelier of Maison Dellos restaurant house; Svetlana Dobrynina, winner of professional contests and WSET Level 3 diploma holder, a teacher of WineState sommelier school, Sommelier of Selfie restaurant; Vladislav Markin, a Sommelier, a teacher of Enotria school, a winner of Sommelier-2013 Russian contest and of the Best Sommelier title according to WHERETOEAT-2016, Head of External Communications committee of the Russian Sommelier Association; Vladimir Kosenko, a teacher and director of the WineState school, ASI certificate holder, and other well-known wine experts.
