A military satellite launched from the Plesetsk spaceport in northern Russia on Wednesday morning was delivered into the designated orbit, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.

The carrier rocket’s launch and the satellite’s delivery into the designated orbit proceeded in normal mode. The Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket and the military satellite were placed under the control of the ground-based automated system after their launch, the ministry said.

"The satellite was placed into the target orbit by the Fregat booster at the designated time and placed under the control of the ground-based facilities of the Aerospace Forces’ Space Troops," the statement reads.

Stable telemetry has been established and is being maintained with the satellite designated as the Kosmos-2563. The satellite’s onboard systems are operating in normal mode. The data on the satellite has been entered into the main catalog of space vehicles of the Russian space monitoring system, the ministry said.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported earlier on Wednesday that a Soyuz-2.1b medium-class carrier rocket with a military satellite blasted off from the Plesetsk spaceport at 9:48 a.m. Moscow time.
