The first flight of the import substituted version of the Sukhoi Superjet (SSJ) passenger airplane is scheduled for the spring of 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said on Monday.
"Two flying and one endurance test-related airplanes are being made for certification tests of the new Superjet. The maiden flight is scheduled for next spring," Manturov said.
The prototype with the Russian engine PD-14 has already completed more than 100 successful flights, the Deputy Prime Minister said when referring to the MC-21, another Russian passenger jet. "We engaged the second airplane in tests with a Russian-made power plant. It is already operating in Zhukovsky under the test program. Meanwhile, the first experimental airliner with Russian engines has already completed over a hundred successful flights," Manturov stressed.
