The Northern Capital Gateway Company, which manages Pulkovo Airport, announces an annual review of airfield equipment for readiness for operation in the autumn-winter period of 2022-2023.

During the review, the specialists of the airfield service carried out a final check of the operation of the key mechanisms and installations of the machines and confirmed the readiness of the equipment for the winter season.

41 units of special equipment for high-speed cleaning and preparation of the airfield for flights were presented at the review. Including, large VAMMAS PSB 5500 snowplows, Schmidt CJS snowplows, Øveraasen Compact machines for high-speed cleaning of airfield apron surfaces, snow throwers, machines for the distribution of anti-icing agents, special grading equipment, tractors, machines for measuring the friction coefficient.

For the winter maintenance of the airfield, additional means of cleaning and maintaining the airfield are also used. These include means of mechanization, cleaning of lighting equipment, control over the condition of airfield pavements AIMS "Meteotrasska" (sensors on the runways), objective means of monitoring the friction properties of airfield pavements and other means.

In total, the set of special equipment for the winter maintenance of the airfield includes more than 94 units of snowplows and mechanization equipment. They ensure the safe and uninterrupted operation of the airfield in all weather conditions.

Over the past 2 years, the fleet of vehicles has been updated. New means of mechanization appeared: a forklift, attachments for mechanization, means for measuring the friction coefficient, equipment for emergency repair of airfield pavements.
