In Smolensk Region, the crews of the reconnaissance aviation squadron of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and the Air Defence of the Western Military District, as part of a tactical flight exercise, pointed combat aircraft to the command post of mock enemy.

Crews of Su-24MR and An-30B aircraft during the flight to the operational airfield, carrying out visual observation of the mock enemy in the indicated area, pointed the combat aviation of the formation at the uncovered objects.  During the flight, they covered more than 700 km, took photographs of the areas of the alleged strikes, areas for possible landing of helicopter assault forces, roads and rivers.

More than 20 aircraft and about 80 military personnel were involved in the tactical flight exercise.
