Su-34 fighter-bombers practice dropping bombs in South of Russia

The pilots of the multifunctional fighter-bombers Su-34 subject to the Southern Military District have practiced aerobatics and bomb-dropping at a range located in the Rostov Region.

The crews of the aircraft that forms part of a mixed air regiment have practiced the manoeuvres flying at speeds of up to 1900 kph. The training included sharp turns at maximal and afterburning power ratings, vertical dive, upward spiral, as well as combat U-turns and barrel rolls at altitudes of up to 6 thousand metres.

At the training the pilots used the electronic countermeasures systems 'Khibiny' that allowed them to overcome the air defence system of the opposing force. The aircraft crews projected false targets for terrestrial air defence systems and hid their actual location in the airspace by using mounted electronic countermeasures systems.

In addition, the crews have practiced manoeuvres referred to evading the return fire of the air defence systems.

In total, more than 100 servicemen of the Southern Military District who form part of the air personnel, flight management group, ground and technical assistance have taken part in the training flights; about 10 Su-34 fighters-bombers and approximately 15 ground vehicles have been used.
