In Grozny, employees of the Chechen search and rescue squad of the Russian Emergencies Ministry trained in parachute-free landing. The purpose of the training is to prepare employees of the emergency department for possible rescue operations in hard-to-reach places.

Rescuers carried out 3 descents each from the helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, which was hovering at an altitude of 10, 20 and 30 meters. International-class rescuer Murad Murtazov noted that parachute-free landing is used in cases where landing of an aircraft in the accident zone is impossible.

“These skills can be useful when carrying out search and rescue operations in the forest or on ice floes, in high mountainous areas or hard-to-reach areas of terrain, when the helicopter cannot land,” Murad Murtazov explained.

He added that during the training, the Ministry of Emergency Situations also worked out actions to evacuate conditionally injured from hard-to-reach areas with the help of aviation.
