Crews of Su-25SM will take part in Russia and Uzbekistan joint exercise on the border with Afghanistan

The crews of Su-25SM attack aircraft of the joint Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan will be involved in a joint Russian-Uzbek exercise, which will be held from July 30 to August 10 in the Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In total, a link of Su-25SM attack aircraft will be involved. The practical part of the training event will be held at the Termez training ground in the area bordering Afghanistan.

During the exercise, Russian pilots will provide air support to a joint group of troops performing combat training tasks to preserve the territorial integrity of the states of the Central Asian region. Also, the crews of the Su-25SM will search for and destroy the camouflaged bases of the mock enemy and will work out techniques for getting out from under the strike of portable anti-aircraft missile systems.

The basis of the Russian contingent at the exercise will be the military personnel of the peacekeeping unit and the special purpose brigade of the Central Military District (CMD).

Earlier, the Commander of the Central Military District Colonel-General , Alexander Lapin, reported that from August 5 to 10, a joint exercise of the military contingents of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will also be held at the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Kharb-Maydon training ground, at which the Russian side will be represented by units of the 201st military base.
