As part of the planned training, the crews of Su-27 fighters, Su-24M bombers and Su-30SM multi-purpose fighters of the Baltic Fleet (BF) naval aviation performed night training flights. They worked out take-off and landing, attacks on low-speed air and ground targets, the destruction of command posts and enemy military equipment, complex aerobatics and combat maneuvering.
Among the mandatory combat exercises was forcing the intruder aircraft to land and simulating an air battle, during which the pilots of Su-27 fighters performed a search and detection of mock enemy aircraft. In their role were An-26 aircraft of military transport aviation. During the training, the crews performed elements of complex aerobatics, including a barrel, slide with an inclination of up to 60 degrees, forced turns, combat turn.
Training flights took place over the sea and over undirected terrain. In total, more than 20 aircraft of the BF naval aviation were involved in the planned combat training event.
