Vnukovo-3 hosted a repatriation ceremony for the remains of General of the Napoleon's Army

On July 13th, at the Business Aviation Center (Vnukovo-3), a solemn ceremony of repatriation of remains of General Gudin from Russia to France took place. The organizer of the unique historical event was the Foundation for the Development of Russian-French Historical Initiatives.

Charles Etienne Gudin is the first French general whose remains were discovered in 2019 near Smolensk during a Russian-French archaeological expedition under the auspices of the Foundation for the Development of Russian-French Historical Initiatives, which caused an international outcry.

At Vnukovo-3, the ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the National Guard, the Ministry of Culture, the Russian public movement "Clubs of Historical Reconstruction of Russia," the Roman Catholic Church, the Embassy of the French Republic in the Russian Federation, as well as the descendants of General Gudin.

During the ceremony at the airport, the Rosguard Orchestra performed the French national anthem "La Marseillaise" and then Chopin's "Funeral March." The company of the guard of honor of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation paid military honors to the General of Napoleon's army, who has now become a symbol of strengthening relations and mutual understanding between the people of Russia and France.

After the ceremony, the coffin flew to France on a private jet. Upon arrival at his homeland, General Gudin will be buried with honors in the Palais des Invalides in Paris or his hometown, along with his wife and children.
