Alaska Airlines became the 14th full member of the oneworld® global alliance. S7 Airlines partners in the alliance also include American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, and Sri Lankan Airlines. The oneworld route network includes more than 1,000 cities in 170 countries.
“For us, becoming a member of oneworld means becoming one of the world’s best airlines. Our passengers can now enjoy all the benefits of the alliance’s global route network and the convenience of ‘seamless’ travel, and loyalty program members can enjoy even more privileges. In essence, Alaska Airlines is being transformed into a global airline, with flights across the U.S. West Coast and North America complemented by those of our oneworld partners around the world, ” said Ben Minicucci, chief executive officer of Alaska Airlines.
“We look forward to restoring international air travel so that status customers can take full advantage of the privileges available,” notes oneworld CEO Rob Gurney.
S7 Priority members can take full advantage of the alliance’s benefits: they can earn and spend miles with their favorite oneworld airlines. Priority members have access to business lounges in airports around the world and can take advantage of other privileges from the alliance partners. Silver status in S7 Priority corresponds to Ruby in oneworld, Gold to Sapphire, and Platinum to Emerald.
Starting today all Alaska Mileage Plan members can earn bonus miles for flying with any other airline in the alliance. The opportunity to spend miles on airline tickets on airlines with which Alaska Airlines has not previously partnered will become available in the coming months.
