Aeroflot to offer free air travel to veterans of the Great Patriotic War

Aeroflot launches a traditional campaign running May 3 through 12, 2021 to offer free air travel to veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The ticketing campaign celebrates the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Great Patriotic War veterans residing in Russia, CIS, the Baltic States, and Georgia or being citizens of these countries, those disabled of the war and those held prisoner of war as children are eligible to receive free economy-class tickets for themselves and one accompanying passenger. Taxes and other fees will be paid by Aeroflot.

Heroes of the Soviet Union and Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory travelling within Russia will be granted business- or comfort-class tickets. Free service class upgrade will be offered to all participants of the campaign along with accompanying individuals when seats are available.

Travel is available on any route within Russia and on flights between points in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kirgizia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldavia and points in Russia.  

Travel to points in CIS is only permitted with documents allowing entry to the country in line with COVID-19 related visa and medical restrictions. Up-to-date information is available on Aeroflot website.

Bookings can be made from April 21 to May 12, 2021 (inclusive) for travel starting May 3 through 12 May, 2021 (inclusive). Tickets issued as part of the campaign are valid one month.

Free travel is available on Aeroflot flights as well as Aeroflot flights SU5950–6999 operated by JSC Rossiya Airlines. The campaign doesn’t apply to Aeroflot flights SU3000 — SU4999 as well as Aeroflot flights operated in code-sharing with other airlines.

In 2001, Aeroflot was the first Russian carrier to start granting free travel to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, thus, establishing a tradition. More than 90,000 people took part in the special transportation campaign over the years.
