On April 14, 2021, NPO Energomash commissioned six RD-180 engines to the US customers. Pratt&Whitney, United Launch Alliance and RD Amross representatives signed the record forms on the engines.

For two weeks prior to the handover of the engines, the representatives of the companies as well as NASA and US Air Force inspected the engines, spare parts and equipment, as well as accompanying documentation. This was the first commissioning since the beginning of the pandemic that has made its adjustments into the export shipments schedule. Currently, the engines are being readied for shipping. This will be the last shipment according to the active contract. Throughout over 20 years of cooperation, NPO Energomash shipped 122 RD-180 engines to the US.

RD-180 liquid fuel rocket engine developed and manufactured by NPO Energomash is meant to be used in the US Atlas family rockets.
