The specialists of the Roscosmos enterprises TsENKI and Rocket Space Center Progress completed the cycle of mechanical assembly of the Soyuz-2.1 b launch vehicle package (1st and 2nd stages) at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in accordance with the comprehensive launch preparation schedule. The launch vehicle package is placed for storage until the beginning of the launch campaign.
The Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle is intended for the fourth commercial launch from the Vostochny Cosmodrome implemented by the European launch services provider Arianespace together with the Russian-French Starsem company, for OneWeb innovative satellite constellation operator.
Currently, the OneWeb low Earth orbit satellite group has 110 spacecraft, hundreds more are to be launched. OneWeb's low-orbit spacecraft are designed to provide ground-based consumers with high-speed Internet directly via satellite communications.
As part of the work with a foreign customer at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, preparations are underway for the next two launches. The Soyuz-2.1 b launch vehicles will perform these launches, too.
