For the first time in several decades, Soyuz-2 carrier rocket (developed and manufactured by RSC Progress, Samara, part of Roscosmos) scheduled to launch on March 20, 2021, will have a new look.
Soyuz-2 will sport a white-blue mix of colors instead of the standard grey and orange color combination. The new color scheme came as a tribute to the Vostok carrier rocket located at VDNKh in Moscow. The Vostok carrier rocket took the world’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin to space.
The usually grey contours will be painted vivid blue, the corporate color of Glavkosmos Launch Services (Roscosmos commercial launch operator) and corporate color of Roscosmos. The payload fairing will remain white.
The other Glavkosmos Launch Services 2021 launches will also bear the same colors.
