ISS Reshetnev to build a new communication satellite

Information Satellite Systems Reshetnev (ISS, part of Roscosmos) is working to create the Skif-D experimental spacecraft.

Currently, ISS Reshetnev specialists are developing design documentation for the spacecraft and its components. At the same time, the cooperation enterprises are developing and manufacturing the components.

The Skif-D satellite will be part of the namesake experimental space system designed to test new technical solutions for broadband Internet access services and for the protection of the Russian orbital frequency resource. Its weight will not exceed 200 kg with power consumption of about 250 W.

Skif-D will be injected into a medium circular orbit with the altitude of 8070 km. The launch is scheduled for the end of September 2022.
