NPO Energomash conducted fire tests for RD-171MV and RD-191 engines

NPO Energomash (part of Roscosmos) conducted fire tests of the RD-171MV liquid-propellant rocket engine intended for the perspective medium-class Soyuz-5 launch vehicle.

The test program was completed in full. The tests went nominally. RD-171MV is a modernized version of the RD-170/171 basic engine developed by NPO Energomash in 1976-1986. The upgraded engine is already recognized as the world’s powerful engine: weighing 10 tons, it offers over 800 tons of thrust.

At the same time, firing tests of the RD-191 rocket engine, developed and produced by NPO Energomash for the Russian Angara family launch vehicles were successfully carried out.
