In Kamchatka, the crews of Il-38 aircraft of the anti-submarine squadron of the troops and forces in the north-east of Russia worked out tasks in the near zone of responsibility of the Pacific Fleet.

The Il-38 and Il-38N airplanes made a flight to an area of the Arctic Ocean in order to practise independent tactical methods to search and identify submarines, as well as track them using various radars and sonar stations.

In addition, anti-submarine aviation pilots honed their piloting in tight formation and the co-ordination of air-crews.

The main goal of conducting training flights was to improve the coherence of pilots in groups when performing tasks for their intended purpose.
