S7 Airlines has summed up the results of production activities for 2020. Over the past year, the airline carried 12,349,248 passengers, 31.2% less than in 2019. 11,303,864 passengers used flights within Russia, which is 13.4% less than last year. At the same time, in December 2020, S7 Airlines increased passenger traffic on domestic routes by 9.5% compared to 2019 - up to 1,081,240 passengers.
«In 2020, S7 Airlines became the largest air carrier in Russia for the first time. Thanks to an effective strategy for the development of the route network and the air fleet, during nine months of an extremely difficult year, we managed to maintain our leadership in the market. In 2021, we will continue to gradually restore passenger traffic: for example, in the first weeks of January S7 Airlines performed the most flights in Europe. We hope that this year we will be able to implement our plans in foreign markets and, of course, we will continue to develop the geography of flights within the country,» - says Grigory Davydov, Deputy General Director for Strategy of the S7 Group.
In spring and summer, S7 Airlines took an active part in the program of the Russian Government to return home Russians from foreign countries. The airline performed export flights from Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Spain, France, Italy, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
S7 Airlines was the first Russian airline to think about travel safety in the context of the pandemic and introduced measures to protect passengers. In particular, within the framework of the S7 Care program, free individual kits with protective equipment appeared on board, and boarding was carried out in groups.
Last year, the airline launched an important social initiative - the Doctors on Board privilege program for medical workers, created by S7 Airlines jointly with the Association of Aviation Medicine Physicians. When buying a ticket on s7.ru, program participants, if they wish, can make a mark whether they are ready to provide first aid in flight. The information is transmitted to the crew in advance, and if necessary, the flight attendant will be able to seek advice from a medical worker. Doctors on Board members receive various privileges when flying with S7 Airlines, while the decision to provide assistance always remains with the doctor, and access to bonuses does not depend on this. By the end of the year, the program had over 10,000 medical personnel.
In November 2020, S7 Airlines switched to a new fare system. Each of them provides a range of services that are relevant for a variety of groups of travellers. The Economy group is represented by three tariffs: Basic, Standard, Plus, the Business group - two: Standard and Plus.
In 2020, S7 Airlines improved its service for travellers with pets. In December, passengers were given the opportunity to carry their pets in the aircraft cabin on the seat next to them. The pet is placed in economy class, in a place near the window next to its owner, the container is fixed on the chair with special seat belts. An alternative to traveling in a separate seat is transportation in the cabin under the seat in front.
